Why not climb a mountain after class?

Last Friday was a beyond beautiful day in Barcelona. The sun was shining, begging us to come out and play. After class, three classmates and I packed a picnic and laced up our sneakers to hike Mount Tibidabo. The amusement park and castle at the top of the mountain were always seen as a distant speck in the city skyline, and we wanted to see it up close.

The hike was spectacular, with jaw-dropping panoramic views of the city. We could pick out landmarks and see the Mediterranean Sea glittering in the distance. I looked out on the view in front of me, flabbergasted and thought: wow this is my city.

Getting to the top was definitely worth it. We found out that what we thought was a castle was actually a church (although castle-looking) and the amusement park was charming, although unfortunately closed. We sat on a grassy patch, and with a smorgasbord of cheese, cookies, muffins, and wine, watched the sun set over the mountains and Barcelona.

I tried my best to capture it on camera, although it doesn't do it justice. You can see them on the link to my picassa album--and there's a video!
